I miss y’all but I’m not in the space for colorful pleasantries, we have some things to deal with here. While I am not usually on the side of educating people on this topic because I feel like if you care you’ll do the work. Bro I had to do the work because you know NO ONE TOLD IT TO ME IN SCHOOL!
Story time….. (with obvious creative embellishments for comprehensibility)
Oppressor 1- “What is it about Africa? They have something special over there(Iron, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Oil, Gold, Coffee, Cotton, Cooper, Diamonds, Grain, Tea, Livestock, Fashion, Music, Culture, Uranium,Community, Innovation) we don’t have that at least not like that but shoot I want that
Here’s the plan…………………………………..
We Envy their space so instead of investing in it or them or even be European enough to educate ourselves and appropriate it, let’s STEAL IT! Nah, better yet STEAL THEM! Yeah, that “something special” must be in the people, plus if we remove them we get their land. Well actually we can do both we can convince them to give us their land and what we can’t get through trust we will take. Yeah and then force them to work for us.”
Oppressor 2- “But how? How do we do this?”
Oppressor 1- “Well simple enact extreme manipulation through (what we now know as) socioeconomic wealth, legality, political policy and misconstrued religion (because No one argues with “gods” work). Then use excessive force and abuse to punish, mangle and kill those who refuse to conform (Me: sound familiar?). We have to get in their heads if we can control the mind then we can control the person. That is what Satan does and it’s been working for him.”
Oppressor 2- “Man a lot of them are not going to be willing to conform.”
Oppressor 1- “Well that’s ok, we will force them. We need to populate and cultivate our other stolen property so we can just kill until they will.”
Oppressor 2- cI wonder what this secret mission will be called in the future?”
Spoiler Alert Colonization.
Oppressor 1- “It worked now we have these Africans in (North) America, their strength knowledge and work ethic is unparalleled and we must use them to create wealth through construction, agriculture and so much more.”
Oppressor 2- “How much should they earn?”
Oppressor 1- Earn??? I’m confused we shouldn’t pay them for this work! No you only pay people, We stole them so they are property. Therefore payment is not necessary, they owe us for bring them here. They should be grateful that we stole them from their native land, and identity, killed their families with violence and disease yet were generous enough to let them live.”
Oppressor 2- “Won’t they be upset and demand payment?”
Oppressor 1- “Maybe, Hmm? So let’s beat them daily if they try to revolt, let’s starve them, let’s repeatedly rape them and impregnate them with our babies and cause them to work in conditions that will psychologically destroy them and pin them against each other making them believe that some of them are better than the other so that if any of them are still strong after the torture we put them through they will not have unity to defeat us (Me: classism much?). Oh wait, here’s another idea let’s also allow them to have children who can work for us so we have an endless supply of labor but when those folks are born DO NOT let them learn no reading or writing and try to keep religion away from them because God is too helpful.”
Oppressor 2- “What if they tell each other things? Like what if they teach each other and pass down information?”
Oppressor 1- “They are stupid property they won’t be that smart (Me: Jokes on them, they always slept on us). But just incase, we will separate them to minimize that option and we will beat and lynch them publicly if we find them hanging out or running away to confirm that they should fear us . Now all they will have left is what we tell them.”
Oppressor 2- “Wow! You’re a visionary, this is strategic, this seems like slavery, but a bit different.”
Oppressor 1- “Yeah it’s chattel slavery and there is a lot more to it but what is most important is to psychologically oppress them. Got it?”
Oppressor 2- “Darn it! These folks are resilient, now we have to free those who have not already escaped? They still have large pieces of their culture? How are they that different than us? We used all our power, influence and warfare to strip them to nothing; they still thrive?”
Oppressor 1- Okay backup plan; we will make laws: we will keep them from our neighborhoods, we will make it okay for us to kill them, we will blame them for crimes they did not do, we will underfund the schools where they are, we will kill their leaders, we won’t let them vote (so that our plan won’t be destroyed), we will have them jailed, give them drugs and kill them. Hey but those are all just tools that will keep them thinking they are beneath us. Also we have to keep them separate.
Oppressor 2- “Separate from us?”
Oppressor 1- “Yes but not just us from each other so lets make some skin tones more accepted by giving the fair skin ones (the ones that were mostly born from us raping them) jobs and opportunities, (even thou we hate them too) and then they will hate each other. Remember its a mind game.”
Oppressor 2- “Okay so are we doing those things in that order? What is this plan called?”
Oppressor 1- “Well no not really that a run down of different tactic that will span over many years. Ummm….. they will call it Segregation, Discrimination, Jim Crow, War on Drug, Redlining, Institutionalization and some other things.”
Me-Sound familiar?
Okay Whims What you’ll just read is systemic racism in a nutshell.
While those practices may make us cringe and are not in chronological order for creative writing sake they are true and very real. There is so much research to be done and it is long over due. The Black Lives Matters movement is pushing North America to fix what has been woven in the fabric of this nation from its inception. Yes, black people are tiyaad of being undercut, undervalued or devalued, but that’s not even the first request we just want to stop being KILLED.
In every generation White America has found ways to maintain control over it’s black and brown CITIZENS. As illustrated above we see how those with power keep morphing the appearance of their agenda instead of the agenda itself. The issue is the system.
Now in 2020 we don’t see slavery in the form of picking cotton for massa but we see arrest and elongated jail sentences for blacks. A system that is literally modern day slavery. We see segregation in colorism, gentrification and redlining, We see defunding for education in black and brown communities. We see minimal exposure to arts and culture to strip and control identity. We see starvation in the demographic and geographic designs minimizing access to grocery stores so that what we eat is not healthy , while liquor stores, fast food and junk can be consumed easily. We see theft in cultural appropriation. We see people in power given support instead of reprimand when they killed and steal from us; through police brutality and copyright infringement. Instead people being lynched and hanging from trees we see them gunned down or asphyxia to death by law enforcement. We see all lives matter arguments to minimize the important of black equality and humanity. Why? Simple it’s still A MIND GAME! For some we are just things they stole and we deserve to die.
As a Black Christian Woman I feel that it is my responsibility to speak on this topic also if you follow me you know I have been vocal on this subject. I think that church needs to pray and speak and that starts with me too. Whims here is what I want & pray for you…
My people you keep fighting it is not useless and we are making progress. I know the last 400 and some years in this country have been Hell on Earth but we will keep seeing change. Yes they will keep trying to change their tactic, but we are stronger than ever and we can force change we can end racism. But not if we only fight on 1 level. We know the agenda and we know the root of their warfare. They are fighting physically sure but the game has always been psychological. Keep educating yourselves on your history and the history of this country. Question systems and ideologies. Switch the socioeconomic culture by buying black to control the buying power. Hey allies you can use these tips too. Listen, y’all we are fighting everyday and it is the responsibility of EACH person to educate themselves we don’t have time. I truly believe that God will continue to support our efforts and we will live free! At the end of the day we want that oppressor conversation to be….
Oppressor 2- “Will they fold?”
